THE NILE COMMERCIAL BANK LIMITED (NCB) - SOUTHERN SUDAN

NCB was born during the civil war on 8 March 2003. At that time there were no Southern Sudanese established banks. Aggrey Idri was appointed Managing Director and he has remained in that position since. It capital that was obtained by selling shares to the general public.

Our chairman is Mr Leonard Logo Malawat.

From its humble beginning, NCB can look back with much pride and satisfaction. It has come a long way and today we have 20 branches in Southern Sudan and offices in Northern Sudan, Kenya and Uganda.

Today NCB is the biggest indigenous Southern Sudanese bank with some 1 700 shareholders, many of whom hold a few shares. There is no main shareholder.

Our regular is the Central Bank, the Bank of Southern Sudan (BOSS) under whose jurisdiction we fall. NCB is licensed to operate as a commercial bank.

NCB has a very close relationship with Stanbic Bank and is particularly close to the Stanbic Banks in Kenya and Uganda .Stanbic is part of the Standard Bank Group Ltd- the largest bank in Africa with assets of exceeding USD138BN. It operates in 18 countries in Africa and in 44 countries world wide.

Southern Sudan has a heavy cash economy and NCB handles transactions in Sudanese Pounds/Dinars and other currencies such as the USA dollars, Kenyan Shillings, Ugandan Shillings, Euros and GB Sterling Pounds.

We offer Current accounts, Savings accounts and accepts funds on Fixed Deposits. Accounts are also kept in different currencies.

Loans are granted for many purposes such as building, purchase of motor vehicles, consumer goods, business operations etc.

In the Foreign Exchange area, NCB handles Money Transfers to all parts of the world Letters of Credit and trade transactions.

With its large branch network in Southern Sudan NCB is actively heavily involved in the movement of funds between its branches,
